General
Wi-Fi
Your Skylight Buddy requires a Wi-Fi connection to function.
Connect to your Wi-Fi network:
- Tap the Profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Wi-Fi box.
- In the Connect to Wi-Fi list, select your Wi-Fi network name.
If you do not see your network name in the list, tap Reset to refresh the list.
If you need assistance, please email VIP@skylightframe.com. - Enter the password for your Wi-Fi network.
Tap the eye icon to show or hide what you have typed. - Tap Connect.
To restart the Wi-Fi connection with the chosen network, tap the Refresh button.
Timezone
Setting the correct time zone on your Skylight Buddy is required for the clock to show the right time.
Set the time zone:
- Tap the Profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Time Zone.
- Select the appropriate time zone from the list.
Not all locations are available in the list - if your location does not appear, use the closest appropriate location to set your time zone.
Weather
- Tap the Profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Enter Address for weather data textbox.
- Tap the Country menu and select your country.
- Tap Search Address and enter your address.
You may only need to add your zipcode, postcode, or other postal area code. The more accurate the address the better the weather information.
Brightness
With automatic brightness enabled, Buddy will use a light sensor to adapt Buddy’’s screen brightness to match room lighting.
Adjust automatic brightness:
- Tap the Profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Automatic brightness toggle to enable or disable automatic brightness.
If automatic brightness is disabled, you can set the brightness directly. Tap Brightness to show the brightness slider. Adjust the brightness slider to change the brightness of your Buddy’s screen.
Volume
Adjust your Buddy's volume with either the volume buttons (+ and -) on the top of Buddy, or with the settings menu.
Adjust your Buddy's volume with the volume keys:
- Tap either volume key to display the volume slider:
- Adjust the Buddy’s volume using the volume keys or with the volume slider.
Adjust your Buddy's volume with the settings menu:
- Tap the Profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Volume.
- Adjust the volume slider to set the volume.
The volume controls will not affect the alarm.
Screensaver
Enable or Disable the Screensaver
You can enable or disable a screensaver for Buddy. The screensaver will show a clock when your Buddy has been idle.
Enable or disable the screensaver:
- Tap the Profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Clock Screensaver toggle to enable or disable the screensaver.
Set the Screensaver Idle Time
If the screensaver is enabled, you can also set the amount of idle time that will turn on the screensaver.
Use the Turn On After slider to set the idle time in minutes before the screensaver activates:
The idle time can be set from five to thirty minutes, in five minute increments.
Chores
You can configure your Buddy to show or hide chores that are overdue. Showing late chores may be useful if you have chores that need to be done a specific number of times. Hiding late chores might be better for chores that are okay to skip.
You can also explicitly skip chores in the Skylight Mobile App: Tasks: Routines and Chores.
Hide or show overdue chores:
- Tap the Profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Show Late Chores toggle to show or hide late chores.
About
Device Information
The About section contains information about your Buddy device:
- The Household textbox shows the name of the Household the Buddy is associated with.
- The Software Version textbox shows the version number of the software running on your Buddy.
- The Firmware Version textbox shows the version number of the firmware running on your Buddy.
You cannot edit any of these textboxes. The information in these textboxes may be useful when reporting a bug, or working with Skylight Support to solve a problem.
Reset
Resetting your Buddy will wipe all of the information stored locally and put the device into an unactivated state. If you have reset your Buddy, you will need to reactivate it using the Skylight Mobile App.
Resetting your Buddy will not affect any of the data stored in your Skylight Account.
Reset your Buddy:
- Tap Reset Device.
- Tap Reset Device to confirm.
