Some events we look forward to: birthdays, graduations, vacations. With Skylight Calendar, you can designate certain events as a Countdown, and keep track of how many days are left before your special event.
Set An Event as a Countdown
Any event you can edit can be set as a Countdown. This includes events you create on your Skylight Calendar, Skylight Mobile or Desktop App, or events created as part of a two-way sync.
Events from a one-way sync are not eligible for Countdowns. As a workaround, you can create a new event directly in the Skylight app or device and toggle Countdown to on for that event.
Skylight Calendar will automatically keep track of the number of days remaining until the date of the event.
Set an event as a Countdown:
- Tap the event.
- Tap Edit event.
- Tap the Countdown toggle to choose if you want the event to have a Countdown.

In all calendar views, Countdowns appear in the preview bar:
Countdowns share space in the preview bar with task progress.
If the preview bar is too full, Countdowns will share the first position in the preview bar, and the active Countdowns will rotate. Tap on the Countdown to view a list of all active Countdowns:
Use the filter menu to show or hide Countdowns in the preview bar:
- Tap the Filter button in the calendar tab.
- Tap the Countdown toggle to choose if you want to show or hide countdowns.
Countdowns in the Event View
If an event is set to be a Countdown, the Countdown status will appear under the event title in the event details:
The Countdown feature will also add an Emoji, if it can guess which Emoji is appropriate.
Countdowns on the Screen Saver
Upcoming Countdown events will appear in a row on the screensaver:
If there are too many events to fit on the screen, swipe left and right to show more events.
In settings, the screensaver can be configured to show or hide countdowns:
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Tap Photos.
- Under Screensaver, toggle Show countdowns to show or hide Countdowns when the screensaver is active.
Choose How Far Out to Show Countdowns
In settings, the calendar can be configured to show some or all upcoming Countdown events:
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Tap Calendar.
- Under Calendar, tap Show countdowns.
- Choose how far ahead you want to see upcoming countdown events:
- Always - always show every upcoming countdown event.
- Three months prior - only show countdown events happening in the next three months.
- One month prior - only show countdown events happening in the next month.
Countdowns in the Skylight Mobile App
In the Skylight Mobile App, Countdowns will appear in the event details.
Edit an event to enable or disable it as a Countdown.
When using the search in the Skylight Mobile App, choose Countdowns to quickly view all Countdown events.
