Parental Lock helps parents control what their kids have access to on Skylight Calendar, preserving Calendar as the source of truth for events and tasks.
Overview:
- Users can set a 4 digit PIN to restrict access to adding events/chores and/or modifying events/chores. This PIN is unique to the device. Parental Lock is on the device only. This is not an in app feature.
- Users can choose how many minutes of inactivity until asked for the PIN again
- Enter the PIN to add or modify chores/events, or disable the parental lock
- If a user forgets their PIN, they can send an email with a magic link. Clicking this link resets the PIN.
- Our customer service team can assist by manually resetting the Parental Lock so you can reset the PIN. Email us at help@skylightframe.com
Set Up:
1. Tap "Settings" then "General" on your device.
2. Toggle on "Parental lock" and enter a 4 digit PIN.
3. Select whether the PIN is required to:
- Add events/chores
- Modify events/chores
- Add + Modify
Pressing “Continue” saves the PIN and settings.
4. Select the length of time required to turn the lock on after inactivity, up to 10 minutes after last addition or modification of a chore or event.
5. To turn off Parental Lock, toggle Parental Lock to "off" and enter PIN to confirm Parental Lock is off:
How It Works:
If a user an action that is blocked by the PIN, such as editing a chore by pressing “Edit”, the user is asked to enter the PIN:
If the wrong PIN is entered, an "Incorrect PIN, please try again" error message will appear. There is no limit to how many times a user can try to enter the PIN.
Troubleshooting:
Tap "Forgot Pin" on the Pin screen either while turning off Parental Lock or while trying to access a locked feature. Tapping "Forgot PIN" prompts the user to send an email, contact Customer Service or cancel the Forgot Pin request:
The reset PIN email will be sent to the personal email associated with the Skylight account the user set up.
