Using Skylight Calendar with iCloud Calendar

Did your iCloud Calendar stop syncing with your Skylight despite following all the syncing instructions?

Sometimes iCloud calendars that use one-way sync can run into an issue with syncing a new calendar or with updating new events from a previously synced calendar. This happens when a one-way synced iCloud account is no longer synced properly to the iCloud calendar.

When this happens the only way to resolve this issue is to turn off calendar within iCloud settings and turn it back on once Apple has had a few minutes to process the request.

Resync a Non-Syncing iCloud Calendar

Set Calendar to Private

  1. Open the iOS Calendar app.
  2. Tap Calendars.
    Tap the Calendars button on the bottom of the panel, or tap the Calendars icon.
  3. Tap the red circled i icon next the the calendar that is not syncing. 
  4. Disable the Public Calendar setting.

Remove iCloud Calendars from Your Phone

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on your name to see iCloud settings.
  3. Next to Saved to iCloud, tap See All.
  4. Tap iCloud Calendar.
  5. Toggle Use on this iPhone to off.
  6. Tap Keep on My iPhone.

Once the setting is completely turned off, Close the calendar app by switching into multi-tasking view and swiping the calendar app upwards.

Restore iCloud Calendars to Your Phone

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on your name to see iCloud settings.
  3. Next to Saved to iCloud, tap See All.
  4. Tap iCloud Calendar.
  5. Toggle Use on this iPhone to on.
  6. Tap Merge.

Reconfigure Calendars

Wait ten minutes before preceding with this step. All of your calendar data must fully sync to your phone before you can resync the calendar to Skylight.

Re-enable the public calendar setting:

  1. Open the iOS Calendar app.
  2. Tap Calendars.
    Tap the Calendars button on the bottom of the panel, or tap the Calendars icon.
  3. Tap the red circled i icon next the the calendar that is not syncing. 
  4. Enable the Public Calendar setting.
  5. Tap Share Link...
  6. Tap Copy in the Share Sheet.

Set Up a New iCloud Sync

Use the link copied in the previous step to set up a new Skylight Calendar One-Way Sync with Apple iCloud Calendar.

Remove the old calendar.
