Import Recipes

With Magic Import, you can scan papers or photos to add recipes to your recipe box.

Adding a Recipe

Create a new recipe with the Sidekick menu bar, starting at the Skylight Mobile App home screen:

1. Select Meals.
2. Select the Add button.
3. Select New Entry.
4. Choose the import method:
   • Open a website
   • Use a photo
   • Talk into your microphone
   • Forward a recipe by email
   • Take a photo of your fridge
     

Create a new recipe using Magic Import with Sidekick, starting at the Skylight Mobile App home screen:

1. Select Sidekick.
2. Select Import a recipe.
3. Choose the import method:
   • Find Online
   • Add with URL
   • Forward an Email
   • Take a photo, or use one from your camera roll
   • Talk into your microphone

Use a Website

1. Select Website.
2. Select the meal category for the recipe you want to add.
   Recipes can only be in one meal category at a time.

Choose if you want to paste a URL to a recipe, or browse to a website.

Paste a URL

From a web browser or other source, copy the URL of the recipe you want to import. The URL of the recipe must be in the clipboard so it can be pasted in the Mobile App.

1. Select Paste URL.
2. Select the Paste the URL here textbox to add the URL of a recipe page.
   The recipe URL in your clipboard will be pasted automatically.
3. Select Next.
   The recipe page will appear. Check to make sure that the correct recipe page is being shown.
4. Select Send to Sidekick.

After Sidekick has captured the recipe, it will show the recipe so you can confirm or edit the details.

• If the recipe looks okay, tap Save to Recipes to add the recipe to your recipe box.
• If something needs to be changed, you can edit the draft.

Edit the draft:

1. Tap the title textbox to change the title.
2. Tap Category to change the category of the recipe.
3. Tap the notes textbox to edit the notes.
4. Tap Save to Recipes to add the recipe to your recipe box.

Browse to a Website

1. Select Find Online.
2. Use the browser to search for a recipe.
3. Navigate to the recipe page.
   The recipe page must be loaded in the browser.
4. Select Send to Sidekick.

After Sidekick has captured the recipe, it will show the recipe so you can confirm or edit the details.

• If the recipe looks okay, tap Save to Recipes to add the recipe to your recipe box.
• If something needs to be changed, you can edit the draft.

Edit the draft:

1. Tap the title textbox to change the title.
2. Tap Category to change the category of the recipe.
3. Tap the notes textbox to edit the notes.
4. Tap Save to Recipes to add the recipe to your recipe box.

Import With a Photo

1. Select Photo.
2. Choose if you want to use a photo of a recipe, or a photo of your fridge.

Photo import only works with one photo per recipe. A single recipe cannot be imported from multiple photos. 

Use a Photo of a Recipe

Choose if you want to take a new photo, or use one from your library.

If you want to take a new photo:

1. Select Of a recipe.
   Mobile App may need permission to access the camera. If needed, tap Grant Permission.
2. Tap Take Photo to take a photo of the recipe.

If you want to use an existing photo from your library:

1. Select Choose from Library.
2. Select an image from your camera roll.
   The Mobile App may need permission to access the camera. If needed, grant permission.
3. Select the photo you want to upload.

After Sidekick has captured the recipe, it will show the recipe so you can confirm or edit the details.

• If the recipe looks okay, tap Save to Recipes to add the recipe to your recipe box.
• If something needs to be changed, you can edit the draft.

1. Tap the title textbox to change the title.
2. Tap Category to change the category of the recipe.
3. Tap the notes textbox to edit the notes.
4. Tap Save to Recipes to add the recipe to your recipe box.

Take a Photo Of Your Fridge

Capture Speech With the Microphone

1. Select Talk.
2. Select Start Recording.
   The Mobile App may need permission to access the microphone. If needed, grant permission.
3. Describe the recipe; give the title, list the ingredients, and say the steps.
4. Select Stop Recording.
5. Mobile App will process your recording.

After Sidekick has captured the recipe, it will show the recipe so you can confirm or edit the details.

• If the recipe looks okay, tap Save to Recipes to add the recipe to your recipe box.
• If something needs to be changed, you can edit the draft.

Edit the draft:

1. Tap the title textbox to change the title.
2. Tap Category to change the category of the recipe.
3. Tap the notes textbox to edit the notes.
4. Tap Save to Recipes to add the recipe to your recipe box.

Add By Email

Can can import recipes to your Skylight Account by mailing the recipes to your Skylight device email address shown on the Recipes Via Email screen. 

Your Skylight device email will have this form:

[e-mail]

Tap the email address to start a new email with your email client.

You can use email to send a recipe in several ways:

• Copy the full recipe text, and paste it into the body of the email.
• Paste one or more URLs of a recipe into the body of the email.
• Attach one or more images (.png, .jpeg,  etc.) of the recipe to the email.

When the email is received, Sidekick will extract the recipe or recipes from the email and add them to your recipe box.

If Sidekick cannot import the recipe, you will receive a notification email that the import was not successful, including next steps to take.

Only use one text recipe per email.

1. Select Fridge.
2. Select the meal category for the recipe you want to add.
   Recipes can only be in one meal category at a time.
