Email Events, Recipes, Menus, and Photos With Sidekick

Send Items To Sidekick By Email

Send an email to your Skylight device email address:

<device name>@ourskylight.com

…with the content you want Sidekick to import.

You can include any of the following in the email:

  • An event description, a recipe, or a menu as text in the body of the message.
  • One or more recipe URLs in the body of the message.
  • One or more PDF attachments containing events or meal plans.
  • One or more image attachments of events, recipes, menus or photos.
  • A zip file attachment containing images of recipes or photos.
  • Attached spreadsheet files of events or meal plans.

You can assign imported events to Profiles by including the Profile names in the subject line of the email. Separate multiple Profile names in the subject line with a comma.

Troubleshooting Imports

Sidekick does its best, but may put your import in the wrong place. Sidekick may misinterpret your import’s destination:

  • A family photo with a date in the background (from a wall calendar, or an event poster, or a shop sign, etc.) may be interpreted as an event.
  • A school lunch menu with days may be interpreted as events, not as a menu plan.
  • Sidekick can have difficulty interpreting uploads that contain a large amount of clip art.
  • If you cannot find your import, try looking in your Photos to see if Sidekick placed your import there.

You can review or edit any past imports. To review past imports: 

  1. Open the Skylight Mobile App on your phone or tablet.
  2. Tap Sidekick.
  3. Tap See past imports.

Tap any past import to open it to see the details of that import.

To undo an import from the details screen, tap Undo Import.
