Using Skylight Calendar with iCloud Calendar

Skylight Calendar One-Way Sync with Apple iCloud Calendar

  • Updated

Skylight Calendar can sync with Apple iCloud calendar to sync events created on your iCloud calendar to Skylight.

One-way sync is useful for syncing to a calendar where you only want to see events, and do not wish to edit the events with Skylight.

To make changes to your Apple iCloud calendar from your Skylight devices, use Skylight Calendar Two-Way Sync with iCloud Calendar.

Setting up One-Way Sync for Apple iCloud

Begin the Sync Process in Skylight Mobile App

  1. Open the Skylight App.
You can use either the Skylight Mobile App or the Skylight Desktop App.
  2. Select the My Skylight Menu button.

Get the Sharing Link for the Calendar

Follow the prompts in the app, or the instructions below.

  1. Open the iOS Calendar App.
  2. Open the Calendars view.
This may either be a text button at the bottom of the screen labeled Calendars (pre-iOS 26), or a calendar icon in the lower left corner (iOS 26 and later).
  3. Find the iCloud calendar you want to sync in the list.
  4. Tap the red circled i icon.
  5. In the Edit Calendar pop-up, make sure that Public Calendar is enabled.
This will make this calendar visible to anyone who has the URL for the calendar. Skylight needs the calendar to be public in order to have access.
  6. Tap Share Link…
Tapping Share Link… will bring up a share sheet with the appropriate sharing link visible in gray, beginning with webcal:. This is the link we need to use when setting up the one-way sync.
  7. Tap Copy.

Add the Calendar

Now that you have the sharing link, use it to sync the calendar in the Skylight Mobile App.

You can use the sharing URL in one of two ways:

  • Paste the sharing link into the Skylight Mobile App.
  • Mail the sharing link to your Family Account address.

Add the Sharing Link with the Skylight Mobile App

  1. Switch back to the Skylight Mobile App.
  2. Paste the sharing link into the Paste the URL here textbox.
You may need to scroll to the bottom of the Sync iCloud pane to see the textbox.
  3. Tap Done.

Mail the Sharing Link to Your Family Account Address

  1. Start a new email in your favorite email client.
  2. In the body of the email, paste the sharing link from Get the Sharing Link for the Calendar.
  3. Switch back to the Skylight Mobile App.
  4. Copy the Device email address from the Sync iCloud pane.
This is your Family Account email address. Your Family Account email address will take the form of account-name@ourskylight.com, replacing account-name with the name of your Family Account.
  5. In the To: field of the email, paste the Family Account email address.
  6. Send the email.

Using One-Way Sync for Apple iCloud

With one-way sync, changes made to the remote calendar will automatically appear on your Skylight calendar.

It may take a few minutes for the synced events to appear on your Skylight calendar.

If you have explicitly set up customized colors for your calendars in iCloud, those customized calendar colors will be imported into Skylight. The calendar events will be automatically added to a Profile named after the imported color in hex notation (for example, #ab58e4).

You can leave the imported calendar events in the imported profile, or you can merge the events with an existing profile.

  3. Select App Settings.
  4. Select Calendar.
  5. Select Synced Calendars.
  6. Select the Calendar you want to remove.
  7. Select Delete.
