Profiles

Overview

Skylight makes use of Profiles and Labels to organize your events, tasks, and rewards. 

Events, tasks, and rewards that are associated with a Profile or Label adopt that Profile or Label’s color. Color coding associated events, tasks and rewards visually organizes your Calendar. 

There is no one right way to use Profiles and Labels. Use Profiles and Labels to help you organize your Calendar in a way that makes sense to you and your household. 

Tap the Profiles icon to view and manage your Profiles and Labels:

Profiles

A Profile is a collection of events, tasks, and rewards that are tied to a single person or a group of people. You can think of Profiles as “who” when thinking about events, tasks and rewards.

Every member of your household can have their own Profile to keep their events, tasks, and rewards organized and separate.

You can also use a Profile for a group of people. There may be events, tasks, or rewards that are tied to every member of the household as a group; a vacation, or a sporting event, etc. Instead of putting the event in everyone’s Profile, the event can go into a single group profile, and everyone can keep track of it there.

Labels

There may also be events, tasks, and rewards that are not related to any particular person in the household. You can think of Labels as “what” when thinking about events, tasks and rewards.

Labels usually involve events. For example, you may want to keep a calendar of national holidays on your Calendar device. National holidays aren’t tied to any person or group of people in your household, so they can be added to your Calendar without being tied to a Profile, under an Label. 

List Profiles and Labels

The default Profiles pane displays two lists: Profiles and Labels.

If you have many Profiles and Labels, swipe up and down to see more of the list.

Managing Profiles

Add a Profile

1. Tap Add a Profile.
2. Tap the Name textbox and enter a name for the Profile.
3. Optional: Select an Avatar and color for the Profile.

4. Optional: tap Birthday to set a birthday for the Profile.
5. Optional: tap Linked Calendars to associate this Profile with external calendars that you are syncing with Skylight.
   Select one or more calendars to link to the Profile. 
6. Tap Create Profile.

Edit a Profile

1. Tap a Profile in the Profile list.
2. Make any necessary changes to the Profile:
   • Tap the Name textbox and enter a new name for the Profile.
   • Select an Avatar and color for the Profile.

   • Tap Birthday to set a birthday for the Profile.
   • Tap Linked Calendars to associate this Profile with external calendars that you are syncing with Skylight.
     Select one or more calendars to link to the Profile. 
3. Tap Save.

Merge Profiles

If you have a lot of Profiles as the result of a remote calendar import, you can merge events from extra Profiles into a single Profile to clean up the Profiles list. 

Profiles can only be merged with other Profiles. You cannot merge a Profile with a Label.

Merge a Profile:

1. Tap a Profile in the Profile list.
   Select the Profile you want to merge.
2. Tap Manage Profile.
3. Tap Merge Profile.
   This option will only be available if you have more than one Profile.
4. Select the new Profile for all of the selected Profile’s events.
5. Tap Confirm and Merge.

Convert a Profile to a Label

Sometimes, an imported calendar will create a Profile when a Label is more appropriate. For example, you may have a calendar set up to capture events that aren’t tied to a particular Profile, such as a collection of holidays. You can convert this Profile to a Label to keep it separate from the members of your family.

Convert a Profile to a Label:

1. Tap a Profile in the Profile list.
2. Tap Manage Profile.
3. Tap Convert to Label.
4. Tap Continue.
5. Optional: Tap the Profile Name textbox to edit the name of the new Label.
6. Optional: tap Linked Calendars to associate this new Label with external calendars that you are syncing with Skylight.
   Select one or more calendars to link to the new Label. 
7. Tap Color to open the color picker and choose a color.
   Tap on a color to select it for the new Label.
8. Optional: tap Emoji to open the Emoji picker and choose an Emoji.
   Tap on an Emoji to select it for the new Label.
9. Tap Create Label.

Managing Labels

Add a Label

1. Tap Add a Label.
2. Tap the Label Name textbox and enter a name for the Label.
3. Optional: tap Linked Calendars to associate this Label with external calendars that you are syncing with Skylight.
   Select one or more calendars to link to the Label. 
4. Tap Color to open the color picker and choose a color.
   Tap on a color to select it for this Label.
5. Optional: tap Emoji to open the Emoji picker and choose an Emoji.
   Tap on an Emoji to select it for this Label.
6. Tap Create Label.

Edit a Label

1. Tap a Label in the Label list.

   • Tap the Name textbox and enter a new name for the Label.
   • Tap Linked Calendars to associate this Label with external calendars that you are syncing with Skylight.
     Select one or more calendars to link to the Label. 
   • Tap Color to change the color of the Label.
   • Tap Emoji to change the Emoji associated with the Label.
3. Tap Save.

Merge Label Events

If you have a lot of Labels as the result of a remote calendar import, you can merge events from extra Labels into a single Label to clean up the Labels list. 

Labels can only be merged with other Labels. You cannot merge a Label with a Profile.

6. Tap a Label in the Label list.
   Select the Label you want to merge.
7. Tap Manage Label.

Convert a Label to a Profile

Sometimes, an imported calendar will create a Label when a Profile is more appropriate. For example, a child in your household may have their events imported as a Label from a parent’s calendar; you can convert that Label to a Profile and then assign a profile photo, a birthday, etc.

Convert a Label to a Profile:

1. Tap a Label in the Label list.
2. Tap Manage Label.
3. Tap Convert to Profile.
4. Tap Continue.
5. Optional: Tap the Name textbox to edit the name of the new Profile.
6. Optional: Select an Avatar and color for the new Profile.

7. Optional: tap Birthday to set a birthday for the new Profile.
8. Optional: tap Linked Calendars to associate this new Profile with external calendars that you are syncing with Skylight.
   Select one or more calendars to link to the new Profile.
