Skylight Care FAQs
What’s the best setup to start with?
Most families start with a dedicated Calendar for one household. You can always add more people or connect Calendars later.
Can I change my setup later?
Yes. You can invite more people, connect additional Calendars, and adjust how you use profiles. Start simple, you don’t need to get it perfect up front.
Should I create an account for my loved one or for myself?
We recommend creating an account under your own email and adding your loved one as a user. This makes it easier to manage and update things remotely.
How do I share events across multiple Skylight Calendars?
The easiest way is to connect one external calendar (like Google or Apple) to each Skylight account. Any updates made there will automatically show up on all connected Calendars, so you don’t need to add events in multiple places.
Do I need to connect an external calendar?
No. You only need to do this if you want events to sync automatically from another calendar app (like Google or Apple). Otherwise, you can add everything directly into Skylight Calendar.
What if my loved one doesn’t use the app?
That’s completely fine. They can rely on the device, while others manage everything from the app.
How do I keep things from feeling overwhelming?
Start with just a few things: appointments, one or two routines, and maybe a simple list. Most families build from there over time.
What’s the best way to use profiles?
Most families use profiles for people, types of events (Doctor, Therapy), or a mix of both. Use whatever makes the calendar easiest to understand at a glance.
What does it mean when an event has multiple colors?
When multiple profiles are assigned to an event, it will appear striped. This helps show shared responsibilities like who’s attending and who’s helping.
How do I help my loved one build the habit of using it?
Start simple: add a “Check the Calendar” routine in the morning, place the device somewhere visible, and keep the schedule easy to read. Over time, it becomes part of their day.
What if they still use paper memos or forget to check the Skylight Calendar?
That’s normal at first. Many families use both for a while. Once family members get used to it, the Calendar often becomes the primary reference over time.
What calendar view works best?
Most families start with Week View. It gives enough context to see what’s coming up without feeling too crowded. You can switch views anytime based on what’s easiest for your loved one to follow.
What should I set up first?
Start with just a few things: upcoming appointments, 1–2 daily routines, and reminders with sound turned on. That’s usually enough to help your loved one start using it right away.
Which routines work best to start with?
Simple, consistent routines work best — like taking medication, a daily walk, or a reminder to “Check the Calendar” in the morning. These help build the habit of using the device.
Can I use Skylight Calendar if I don’t live nearby?
Yes. You can manage everything from your phone, so your loved one always sees the latest updates without you needing to be there.
