You only need to connect an external calendar service if you want events saved in other places to sync automatically between Skylight Calendar devices.
For example, you may use a Google or iCloud calendar to manage events. With Skylight, you can sync events from these calendar services to your Calendar.
If you do not want to sync events from an external calendar service, you can choose to manage your events entirely within Skylight, and skip this for now.

Using Tasks: Routines vs. Chores
You can use Tasks in two different ways, depending on what you’re setting up.
Routines are used best for daily habits tied to a time of day:
- Morning (12am–12pm)
- Afternoon (12pm–6pm)
- Evening (6pm–11:59pm)
These are great for things that happen regularly at consistent times, like:
- Taking medication
- Morning or evening check-ins
- Daily exercises
Chores are best for one-time or flexible tasks that don’t happen every day:
- Call the doctor
- Pick up a prescription
- Clean the garage
For more about tasks, please see: Using the Tasks Tab: Routines and Chores.
Using Color-coding
By using different colors for appointments, family visits, or who’s helping that day, you can make it much easier for your loved one to scan the Calendar and quickly see what’s happening. You might use different colors for appointments, family visits, or who’s helping that day.
On Skylight Calendar, colors are tied to Profiles and Labels.
You can create or update these in the app under the Profiles tab.
Once set up, anything connected to a Profile or Label (like events or tasks) will automatically show in that color.
For more about Profiles and Labels, please see: Profiles.
