Connect to Wi-Fi
Your Skylight Buddy requires a connection to the internet to sync with your Skylight Account and receive software updates.
When starting up for the first time, Buddy will automatically ask you to connect to your Wi-Fi network:

In the Connect to Wi-Fi list, select your Wi-Fi network name.
If you do not see your network name in the list, tap Reset to refresh the list.
If you need the Buddy’s MAC Address to connect it to your network, select the information buttonto display the MAC address.

Enter the password for your Wi-Fi network.
Tap the eye icon to show or hide what you have typed. - Tap Connect.

Activate Your Buddy

Install the Skylight Mobile App on your Apple iPhone or Android phone.
- For iPhones, search for “Skylight App” in the App store, or use this link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/skylight-app/id1438779037
- For Android phones, search for "Skylight" in the Google Play store, or use this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skylightframe.mobile&hl=en_US
- Open the Mobile App.
- Tap Let's get started.
- Tap Yes, I have my own Skylight device.
- Tap Skylight Buddy.
- Connect your Buddy either to an existing Household or a new Household.
Connect Your Buddy to an Existing Household
- Tap Household.
- Select your Household from the pop-up list.
- Tap Link & Continue.
Next, Connect Your Buddy With a Profile.

In the Household Email screen, enter the email address you will use to manage the Household.
Choose an email address that is meaningful to you. This email address will be used to identify your Household in the app. - Tap Next.
- Tap Let’s Go! To set up your child’s user profile.
- Tap the Name textbox and enter a name for the Profile.

Select an Avatar and color for the Profile.
For more, see Change a Profile Picture and Profile Color. - Optional: tap Birthday to set a birthday for the Profile.
- Tap Save.
Next, Connect Your Buddy With a Profile.
Connect Your Buddy With a Profile
On the Profile Setup screen, to the Profile you want to connect with your Buddy.
Each Buddy can be connected to only one Profile.
Once Buddy has been connected to a Profile, the connected Profile cannot be edited on the Buddy or in the Skylight Mobile App.
To connect Buddy to a different Profile, you must reset Buddy and then reactivate Buddy with a new Profile. For more about resetting Buddy, please see Restart and Reset Buddy.
Use the Activation Code
- On the Activate Device screen, take note of the six digit activation code.
The activation code will refresh after 60 minutes. - Enter the six digit activation code into your Buddy when prompted.
- Tap Done.
Set the Time Zone
- Tap the Profile icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Time Zone.
- Select your time zone.
You can scroll the list by swiping up and down, or use the Search field to find your time zone. Your specific region may not be available - choose the closest region in your time zone. - Tap the back arrow to return to the menul
- Tap the back arrow to return to the home screen.
