Configuring Your Calendar

This article covers configuring your Skylight Calendar for use after it has been installed. For help on attaching the stand or mounting the Calendar on the wall, please see the Unboxing and Installing article for your calendar.

Start With the Skylight Mobile App

Install the Skylight Mobile App

  1. Install the Skylight Mobile App on your Apple iPhone or Android phone.
  2. Open the Mobile App.

Create a Skylight Account

If you already have a Skylight Account, tap Log In and log in with your email and password.

If you do not already have a Skylight Account, create one:

  1. Tap Create Account.
    The App will advance to the Create Account screen.
  2. In the Email textbox, enter the email address for your Skylight Account.
  3. In the Password textbox, enter the password you want for your Skylight Account. 
    Tap the eye icon to see what you type in the Password textbox.
  4. Tap the check box to accept the Terms of Service.
  5. Tap Continue.

Verify Your Email

Skylight will use the email address you entered when creating your Skylight Account to send you a six digit verification code.

On the Verify Your Email screen, tap the Verification Code textbox and enter the code.

Tap Verify Email.

Welcome to Skylight!

On the Welcome to Skylight screen, you have the opportunity to enter your information:

  • Tap the First Name field and enter your first name.
  • Optional: tap the Phone Number field and enter your phone number.
  • Tap the Birthday field and enter your birthday.
  • Optional: enable the Keep me in the loop! checkbox if you would like to receive emails about new products and deals.

Once you have entered your first name and birthday, tap Continue.

Let's Get Started

On the Let's Get Started screen, there are three options for getting started:

  • Set up a new Skylight device
  • Join someone else's Skylight device
  • I'm just exploring the app

For this article, set up a new Skylight device:

  1. Tap Set up a new Skylight device.
  2. Tap Calendar.
  3. Tap Let's Go!

Choose a household name:

  1. Choose a name for your household which connects all your devices and family profiles.
    Pick a name that is meaningful to you; "Jones Family" and "The Gardeners" are good examples. 
  2. Tap the Household Nickname textbox and enter the household name you chose.
  3. Tap Save & Continue.

Set Up Your Calendar

Connect to Wi-Fi

Your Skylight Calendar requires a connection to the internet to receive updates, sync with online calendars, and other features.

When starting up for the first time, the Calendar will automatically ask you to connect to your  Wi-Fi network:

  1. In the Connect to Wi-Fi list, select your Wi-Fi network name.
    If you do not see your network name in the list, tap Reset to refresh the list.
    If you need the Calendar’s MAC Address to connect it to your network, select the information button to display the MAC address.
  2. Enter the password for your Wi-Fi network.
    Tap the eye icon to show or hide what you have typed.
  3. Tap Connect.

Confirm Your Location

Once your Skylight Calendar has contained an IP Address, it will use it to guess your devices physical address and time zone. The address and time zone are displayed in the Confirm Location screen:

If both are correct, tap Continue.

Adjusting the Address

Your Skylight Calendar uses the address for weather forecasts; if the address is inaccurate, the weather forecast may be incorrect.

If your Calendar guesses an incorrect address, you can update it:

  1. Under City, tap the address textbox to open the Address screen.
  2. Tap the Country picker and select your country.
  3. Tap the Search Address textbox and start entering an address.
  4. As you type, your Calendar will present a list of valid addresses.
  5. Tap the correct address to select it.

Adjusting the Time Zone

Your Skylight Calendar uses the time zone setting to adjust the local time for events in your calendar and due reminders on your tasks. If the time zone setting is inaccurate, events may display at unexpected times.

If your Calendar guesses an incorrect timze zone, you can update it:

  1. Under Time Zone, tap the time zone to open the Time Zone screen.
  2. Select the correct time zone:
    • Swipe up and down to find the correct time zone, and tap it to select it.
    • Tap in the Search... textbox to reduce the size of the list; find the correct time zone, and tap it to select it.
  3. Tap Save.

Activate Your Calendar

The Activate Your Skylight screen shows a QR code and an activation code:

You can use either to activate your Calendar.

Activate Your Calendar With the QR Code

In the Skylight Mobile App, tap Scan the Activation QR code, then use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on your Skylight Calendar.

The Calendar and Mobile App will report that the Calendar is activated and connected.

Activate Your Calendar With the Activation Code

In the Skylight Mobile App, enter the activation code displayed on your Calendar into the boxes .

The Calendar and Mobile App will report that the Calendar is activated and connected.

Set Up Your Household

Add and Customize Your Profile

In the Skylight Mobile App, customize your Profile:

  1. Choose a color and a Profile picture for your Profile.
  2. In the Name textbox, enter the name of the Profile.
    Profiles usually refer to people, so a first name is a good choice.
  3. In the Birthday textbox, enter the birthday for this Profile.
  4. Tap Save & Continue.

Optional: Sync a Calendar To Your Profile

You can sync an external calendar with your Profile now, or do it later.

If you want to do this later, tap Skip This Step.

Optional: Add More Profiles

If you want to add additional Profiles to your household, tap Add a Profile. Please see Profiles for more about adding and managing Profiles.

When you are done adding Profiles:

  1. Tap Save & Continue.
  2. Tap Continue.

Optional: Enroll In a Plus Subscription

Skylight Plus is an optional subscription-based service that adds functionality to all parts iof your Skylight Account. For more about Plus, please see: Skylight Plus for Calendar.

To subscribe to Skylight Plus right now, tap Subscribe.

To wait until later, tap the X in the upper left corner of the screen.

Start Using Your Calendar

Welcome to Skylight Calendar

When the activation is complete in the Skylight Mobile Device, your Skylight Calendar displays a Welcome to your Skylight Calendar dialog box to confirm the activation.

Tap Let's go! to start using your Calendar.
