What can I do if my Calendar can no longer see the Wi-Fi?

  • Updated

If your Skylight Calendar has stopped connecting to your home Wi-Fi network, here are some steps you can take to try to fix it.

Check Other Devices In Your Home That Use the Wi-Fi

Try to use another device to connect to the Internet through your Wi-Fi network. You can use a computer or a phone to test if the Wi-Fi network is working.

If your computer or phone cannot connect to the Internet, there is likely something wrong with your Internet connection. Contact your Internet provider and see if there is a known outage in your area.

Your phone can connect to the internet in multiple ways. To make sure you are testing the Wi-Fi, turn off the cellular modem by putting the phone in airplane mode, then enable Wi-Fi and try to connect.

When you are done testing, take your phone back out of airplane mode.

If you can connect to the Internet with your computer or phone, but your Skylight Calendar will not connect, try the next step.

Restart the Skylight Calendar

Restart your Skylight Calendar:

  1. Unplug your Skylight Calendar,
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Plug your Skylight Calendar back in and wait for it to turn on.

When the Calendar finishes starting up, check the Wi-Fi connection.

If you still cannot connect to your Wi-Fi network, try the next step.

Check Your Wi-Fi Router Settings

Your Wi-Fi router may be blocking or pausing the Internet to your Skylight Calendar.

This can happen if someone in your household checks the router and finds an unfamiliar device name in the list of connected devices, and then pauses or blocks the connection to the unfamiliar device without realizing what it was. Check with members of your household to see if anyone has blocked an unfamiliar device.

How the Skylight Calendar will appear in the blocklist will vary from router to router. Most routers will block Skylight devices by name, but some may block the Skylight device by MAC address.

Check the Blocklist By Name

Your router may be blocking the Calendar by the Skylight Device Name.

Remove a blocked Skylight Calendar by device name:

  1. Open the app used to manage your router (Xfinity, eero, Netgear, etc).
If you do not have an app to manage your router, please contact the router manufacturer or Internet Service Provider.
  2. Tap Devices.
You may need to tap something different for your particular router; look for the devices list.
  3. Scroll to the list of blocked devices.
  4. Look for one of the following names:
    • Ampak
    • Quectel
    • Hui Zhou
    • InPro
    • Generic Android
  5. If one of the above names is in the blocked devices list, remove that device from the list.

Once you have removed a name from the blocked devices list, restart your Skylight Calendar:

  1. Unplug your Skylight Calendar,
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Plug your Skylight Calendar back in and wait for it to turn on.

When the Calendar finishes starting up, check the Wi-Fi connection.

Check the Blocklist By MAC Address

Your router may be blocking the Calendar by MAC address. You can find the Mac address of your Calendar in Settings:

  1. Tap the Settings icon on your Calendar.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Swipe to scroll down.

Make a note of the MAC Address, and check your router’s blocklist to see if the MAC address is listed there. If it is, remove your Calendar’s MAC address from the blocklist.

Once you have removed the MAC address from the blocked devices list, restart your Skylight Calendar:

  1. Unplug your Skylight Calendar,
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Plug your Skylight Calendar back in and wait for it to turn on.

When the Calendar finishes starting up, check the Wi-Fi connection.
