How do I pre-load photos on a Skylight Frame for a gift?

With Skylight Frame, you can pre-load photos from the app and share a special activation code with the recipient. Once they enter this code on their device, your photos will start streaming in! 

Remember: you don't need to physically have the device in front of you to set it up for gift mode!

Install the Skylight Mobile App

The Skylight Mobile App is required to set up a gif Frame. If you don't already have the app, install the Skylight Mobile App on your iPhone or Android phone:

Set Up the Skylight Frame For Someone Else

Register the Skylight Frame

  1. Open the Skylight Mobile App on your phone.
  2. Tap the back arrow to return to the device list.
  3. Tap Add.
  4. Tap Yes, I have my own Skylight device.
  5. Tap Skylight Frame.
  6. Tap Someone else.
  7. Tap Confirm.

Set Up the Recipient

  1. In the Name textbox, tap and type in the recipient's name.
  2. Tap Next.
  3. Next to the envelope icon, tap in the first part of a unique email address that will be used to send mail to this Frame.
    Choose an email address that is simple and easy to remember. You can use letters, numbers, underscores (_) and dashes (-) in the name. If you select a name that is already in use, try a different name.
    You only need to enter the first part of the email address (before the @ symbol).
  4. Tap Next.

Choose Privacy Settings

  1. Under Who Can Send Photos?, choose who can send photos to this Frame:
    • Choose Senders who I approve if you want to manage who can add whotos to the Frame through the email address.
    • Choose Anyone if you want any image sent to the Frame email address to be added to the Frame.
  2. Under Senders can see, choose how much access snders have to the Frame's photos:
    • Choose All photos if you want all of your senders to see all of the photos.
    • Choose Only photos they have sent if you want youe senders to only see their own photos.
  3. Tap Next

Invite Others to Help Manage This Frame

Optional: On the Invite others screen, tap Invite to bring up a share sheet to share the link for this Frame with family and friends.

When your are done sharing the Frame link, tap Next.

Finishing Up

The Final steps screen has reminders of some next steps:

  • If you want to invite additional family and friends, tap the back arrow and share the link.
  • When setup is complete, Add photos from within the Mobile App; please see: Photos
  • Share the 6-digit activation code with the recipient, so that they're Frame will automatically populate with your photos when they activate their Frame.
    Get the activation code by tapping on the new Frame in the device list, and then tapping Get activation code on the home screen.

Tap Done.

Adding Photos

You can add photos through the Skylight Mobile App, or by sending them as attachments to the email address associated with the Frame.

Add Photos Through the Mobile App

Add photos to the gift Frame with the Skylight Mobile App:

  1. Open the Skylight Mobile App to the home screen of the Frame.
    Look for the name of the gift Frame at the top of the screen. You may need to tap the back arrow to return to the device list.
  2. Tap the Add button.
  3. In the Send some love screen, make sure that the name of the gift Frame is selected with a checkmark.
  4. Choose how you want to send a picture or pictures:
    • Tap Pick from gallery if you would like to select one or more pictures from your camera roll.
    • Tap Use your camera to take a picture and send it to the Frame.
    • Tap Draw a doodle to send the frame a sketch.

Add Photos By Email

You can add photos to the gift Frame by attaching them to an email and sending the email to the email address associated with the Frame.

The email address is shown on the home screen of the gift Frame, available in the Skylight Mobile App. 

Look for the name of the gift Frame at the top of the screen. 
You may need to tap the back arrow to return to the device list to select the correct Frame.
